Queen Creek is located southeast of Phoenix, within the Phoenix metropolitan area. In 2000 the town approximately had 4,316 people, 1,218 households, and 1,074 families residing in the town.  There were 1,281 housing units at an average density of 49.6 per square mile. The racial makeup of the town was 82.14% White, 0.35% Black or African American, 6.53% Native American, 0.32% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 14.30% from other races, and 2.29% from two or more races. 29.98% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 1,218 households out of which 50.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 75.9% were married couples living together and an average household size was 3.54 and the average family size was 3.77.  Queen Creek is a very family oriented community and provides the perfect environment to raise a family in the Phoenix metro area. Queen Creek was recently named America’s Friendliest City by Forbes magazine. Queen Creek hosts American Heritage Festival since 2003 and it is the largest annual educational living history event in AZ and the Southwestern US.  Schnepf Farms , also located in Queen Creek and it is  a family operated farm that holds frequent festivals. The Queen Creek Performing Arts Center  provides local events and entertainment in the Phoenix area for families and Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Centre  is a large, publicly owned and operated equestrian facility that hosts regional events also.  The Queen Creek Library is the newest branch of the Maricopa County Library District that opened November 8, 2008.  The Barney Family Sports Complex is a privately owned and operated indoor sports facility that provides the community with access to pools, basketball courts and several other exercise facilities. The Queen Creek Olive Mill  is a very popular a family owned company that grows and presses olives for the production of high quality extra virgin olive oil. It was featured on the Food Network show The Best Thing I Ever Ate.
